Day 22 + Week Three Results!

Today’s Weight:  389.5

Yesterday’s Water:  146 oz

The end of another week.  I’m again really happy with progress – I’m down 3.2 pounds from a week ago, and 10.5 pounds overall.  One more day below 390 and I can claim goal #2 complete.  Crossing my fingers that tomorrow completes that cycle.  I’m technically losing weight a little bit faster than a person is supposed to (1-2 pounds a week is considered ok).  I’ve averaged 3.5 pounds a week.  So a bit faster than I should.  In theory, I should probably kick in some more calories, or be a bit less careful.  I’m working from the theory that weighing 400 pounds is worse for me than losing the weight a bit more quickly than is generally recommended.

I wouldn’t be quite this laissez-faire about it except for the fact that I’m actually feeling much better than before I was dieting.  My energy levels are good, I’m sleeping better at night, and I just generally feel less crappy all the time.  I’m treating that as a good sign.  Also, past experience tells me that the weight comes off more quickly at first because there’s more of me to keep alive (and again, the primary thing your metabolism does is keep your meat warm).  Once I’ve dropped more, it will start to slow down to something more reasonable.

When I last discussed weight loss with my doctor (many months ago, long before I decided to start this journey), he agreed that losing weight a little bit faster wasn’t a huge issue so long as I kept drinking enough water to flush my system, and felt fine.

If I could keep up this rate of weight loss (which I likely can’t, sustainably), I’d be at 240 pounds in about 47 weeks from starting on this path.  That would be approximately May 1, 2017.  How amazing would that be?  But like I said, I’m not expecting the current rate to hold, long term.  Shooting for two pounds a week, I’m looking at December 18, 2017 instead.  If would honestly be completely thrilled with that date too.  It’s not _that_ far off, and the other benefits on the way would also start to kick in majorly.

Late to post because I had a hectic day at work, returning from a week off.

See you in the morning.
