Background Info

It’s been a while…

Obviously, I have had a major gap in posting.  The holidays and other major things have gotten in the way, and I just honestly wasn’t feeling it.  Not a good thing, but there we are.

I’m not committing to getting back to posting daily again yet, as I don’t think that’s likely to happen, but I am attempting to figure out where I am.  I had even stopped using the to do list, although I’ve definitely gotten some things on it done.  So that’s the purpose of this post – getting the to do list back in shape and returning to more focused accomplishments again.

So let’s knock some stuff off the list.  First up, there’s a big set of actions that was completed recently.  I had reached the point where I was unable to work in my office comfortably again, almost a year to the day from when I last did a deep clean of the office to reclaim it.  Since I have been trying to work from home one day a week, that was a problem.  One of my options was just to clean it again, but I also knew that I was getting close to the point where I needed to revise how the room was used.  And so this next batch of things is all intertwined…

First up, I converted my home office to a home office and guest room, moving the guest bed from the children’s room.  This does ultimately mean I have a lot less space for my office, it’s also a lot simpler setup.  Unfortunately much of the mess got dumped to the garage for dealing with later.  I also managed to do a deep cleaning of the kids’ room (lots of space in there now without the guest bed).  We’ve been struggling with the kids not wanting to sleep in their own beds, but their beds were just their converted half size cribs with one side taken off.  The kids are getting tall enough they were pretty much filling their beds.  So the other thing we have done is order twin beds for each of them – much bigger.  It also chewed up most of the extra space in their room, but hopefully they will sleep better at night.  We still need to go through their closet and figure out some sort of toy storage for it as well as purge things they no longer need/fit.  That’s likely happening soon.

We’ve selected a new mowing company for the spring and gotten that all lined up – we’ve had many frustrations with him over the years and just finally got tired enough to do something about it and find someone else.

I’ve also made a bunch of progress on things for Alice’s business.  We got WordPress setup on her domain, ported all the existing content from her current site over to it, setup her Etsy categories to be pages on her domain, and I’ve made substantial progress on getting the membership aspects of her site finished, such that all the people who buy patterns from her can see all the patterns they’ve bought plus their updates via her website, as opposed to whatever platform they originally purchased on.

I’ve also made substantial progress on getting the house cleaner and better organized, although it is definitely still a work in progress.  I do feel like it might be finishable someday!
