Rededicating myself to the weight loss thing starting on Monday this past week seemed to help. The numbers are moving in the right direction again.
The item I was able to complete last night was tidying up the kids’ playroom and giving it a thorough vacuuming, which wasn’t on my original list of things to do but was assigned to me. Beyond that, I made dinner and made some progress on the dishes. This week has been one of the most productive weeks I’ve ever had at my day job, which unfortunately means that I’m not quite as motivated when I get home as I would like to be – so I’m accomplishing a very short list of things. In theory, I have the time while Alice is trying to get the kids asleep to work on projects, but I’ve instead been laying down for “a second” which turns into falling asleep completely but waking when Alice messages me to have me come move the twins to their beds, or goofing off instead of doing anything productive.
If essentially every minute of my day from when I get up until I get home is scheduled and planned and very active, and then I get home and make dinner and deal with other minor trivialities, I don’t have much time left in the day for other action, and even less motivation. I do have to remember that I can take breaks and do things that don’t serve any real purpose aside from helping me relax or enjoy life a bit – that is a purpose of its own. Equally important that I don’t beat myself up over not completing more during that downtime, to get as much enjoyment out of it as I can, instead of feeling guilty about it.
